A mistake. I thought I could do both: some street, and some landscape photography, just because they happen to be in the same location. Again, a mistake.
I think that going street is about the simplicity of the gear, an exercise of purpose, open to everything both internally and externally in order to react to a true moment in time (very verbose). Landscape is about coming prepared with the right tools for when the right light presents itself.
This morning I drove out with my little rangefinder Fuji X-E2S , the 18/35mm combo, and the gorilla pod, thinking I could do some steady landscape of the city and the bay. Thinking I packed light, the truth is I packed wrong. The pod was too low and couldn't see the lcd screen, then I thought of using the wifi to remote control the camera with the iphone and even though it technically worked, it kept distracting me anytime I lost connection (which happened way too easily).
Lesson learned: either I prepare for street, or I prepare for landscape, but cannot expect to do good doing both. I missed a great landscape shot, because I had no filters, no real tripod, and no polarizer. I did my best, but I know it could be better, so I'll be looking forward to come back.
Before sharing some of the pictures, I am truly having a dilemma: lightroom vs on1. Every fuji raw file looks so much crispier, sharper, and basically much better using ON1 software than compared to the rendering of raw files by lightroom. If you are reading this, give it a try. I am.
