Proud of my son. Brandon is keeping his weight under control. Being an "X Man” gives him some latitude regarding his weight, still his position as a left guard comes with a lot of responsibilities; however, it is a team effort, and the Mini Owls team is strong and persistent.
I tried working with two cameras for the game: one for action, one for close-ups, but forget it, when the action starts is hard to keep up, and these kids move fast, so I stuck with the Fuji X-T2 and XF 50-140mm 2.8 combo. True, at the beginning of the game Eagles surprised everybody with an early touch-down, quite uncommon when playing against the Owls; nevertheless, good coaching helped the team to refocus and take the game all the way to the end, becoming victorious 38-6.
Just wished the stadium lighting were a bit better. The camera's white balance struggles with action happening in dark spots; however, the autofocus remained king, and high ISO is hardly noticeable in the pictures when shooting jpegs. In addition, by reducing file size, continuous bursts can go unstopped for a long time, which is very good for those winning plays. Good marks for this camera set.
I have chosen a set of pictures to showcase for this blog. For the whole game, click the link below:
