Exploring Santa Ana
It's been difficult to find some time to walk the streets, so today being favored my parents in law to watch my kids I went to Santa Ana, under a merciless sunny day with an ocasional break from the clouds. I headed to explore this place with a new setup I am testing… a Fuji X-T1 and an 18-55mm zoom lens.
Using a zoom lens is almost a no-no rule in street photography, but heck I am exploring and lately I have been using the rangefinder style fo the E-2S, and thought how different would it be to enjoy a flippy screen, like the one on my X-T1 and the flexibility of a zoom lens. Truth is it was very cool, but I have to admit it was a little distracting choosing focal length every time depending on the situation. The way I decided to work it is by keeping the lens tight at 23mm and only going wide or long on specific shots and then going back to the original length.
Honestly, I'd prefer to have come to this place after 4pm with a warmer light and longer shadows, but all is good in the name of training the eye for street photography. I am still an early explorer of this place, today the streets were not as crowded, but there was always something interesting happening. I have chosen a few pictures to which I am applying some dodge-and-burn editing techniques to emphasize to subject of the photo. Hope you like it.
