Hi.

Welcome to my blog. Here I share my experiences and lessons learned through the process of photographic discovery. You are welcome to comment.

Family on film

Lately I have been studying and evaluating the process of film. More than that, I have been giving a lot of thought whether or not film photography could become a future pursuit. Honestly, the whole photography process is been a joy until it get to the scanning. Only then I get disillusioned, I can't seem to find sharp, well focused, clean scans, only in a few cases, and I am starting wondering how much it is because of my scanning process, or how much is it due to my skills.

To settle the issue I went out with my Nikon F100 and a roll of Fuji Superia 400 and took a bunch of family pictures and then sent the roll of the Darkroom lab in US and asked for the pictures to be scanned. From previous experiences I remembered this lab works with a very high end scanner, and that pictures do look much different.

Well, the results are in, I am not a bad photographer after all ("phew"), but my scanning process has so much to improve. The pictures I am sharing in today's blog are sharp, beautiful colors, awesome details, I just cannot believe it!

I am definitely pursuing film as an enthusiast and hobbyist. It is just so beautiful. I bought a bunch of Fujichrome expired film and I am starting a new project with film, capturing the light of sunrise or sunsets in different settings, looking to catch the moody colors of the sky, and see them developed on film. It's a good long journey and I am gamed.
