Photowalk at the Plaza

Yesterday it was a good, sunny, hot day, a great opportunity to join a photowalk. This one was organized by @artebortot y @casacasco to be happening around Plaza 5 de Mayo. Always wanted to go try that area in order to capture a different kind of pictures for my Santa Ana project.

Indeed, a different rythm of photography. This place is quite a contrast from Casco Viejo, more vibrant, noisy, crowded and unexplored. I was out of my element, not knowing the area very much I was in full improv mode. I could have packed lighter, but I had to bring my Nikon FE2 and shoot some film just because I am trying to figure out a viable way to handle the scanning of films and I needed new rolls, but that is another story. Well, I brought the Nikon FE2 in conjunction with the minimal Fuji E2S and the 18/35mm combo.

Walking down in direction to Casco Viejo I was just an explorer. This photowalk gave me an opportunity to learn how to pace myself in case I go to a new place in a different country, how to slow down and understand that I won't just be able to get everything in one take, I'd have to learn to decide what to capture and what not. But I'll be back to this place, I like the experience, but I am starting to think I should limit myself to a one camera one lens for this type of situations, so gear does not become a distraction in the photographic process. Again, you wouldn't want to bring an expensive, bulky, shiny camera to a place like to this. You want to go unnoticed, approachable, relatable, with a small inconspicuous camera, like my now oldie black Fuji X-100T. That'd be my choice.
