Hi.

Welcome to my web site. Here I share my experiences and lessons learned through the process of photographic discovery. You are welcome to comment.

Exploring Santa Ana

Little by little I am getting to know this place. It is more out of my comfort zone and for this reason I have limited my wandering around the park and the main avenue. This was payday weekend, so it made sense to see more people than usual buying goods, school supplies and lottery. It was also a chance to talk to people, hear their concerns and their opinions about the current political landscape. Doing street photography and meeting people should go hand in hand.

Going out this time I wanted to test the Pentax 40mm Limited 2.8 on a Fuji X-E2S. It's a cute little setup, but I have to say that manually focusing a AF lens is not so much fun. The fact is that I feel I should restrict manual focusing lenses when shooting film, and stick to autofocusing when using digital (one less thing to worry about).

Fortunately, I carried with me the Fuji XF 18mm lens, which I am finding myself more comfortable with. I guess it makes sense using a comfortable gear when going out of my comfort zone. Upon closer inspection at the pictures I am starting to see this lens shortcomings: not as sharp as other Fuji lenses and it carries some distortion, but regardless it feels like a great storytelling lens. For this purpose I still recommend it.
